What Will You Get with "Gospel-Centered Mentoring"?
#14 in the Gospel-Centered Mentoring Series
Maybe the idea of mentoring still makes you a little uncomfortable. Maybe you are concerned that:
- Mentees will feel like you are forcing them to change, and they will be overly burdened by the plans you make together.
- You will not balance law and gospel properly as you work on very personal issues with mentees.
- You won’t know what to say when a mentee repeatedly fails to work on plans to grow in wholehearted character.
- You won’t know what questions to ask mentees to help them develop God-pleasing goals and action steps.
- You will eventually run out of topics to discuss with mentees.
- Mentees will become disinterested during your time with them.
- Your mentees will never change their old, destructive habits and will never truly rest in Christ or reflect him in their lives.
This series addresses your concerns. It shows you exactly how to mentor others with a gospel-centered approach so you and your mentees can be blessed in the following ways:
- The mentees will thank God that someone listens to them regularly, cares about their life, and encourages them with the gospel.
- The mentees will surprise you with the ways they are truly resting in Christ.
- The mentees will surprise you by growing spiritually, emotionally, physically, and social/vocationally in ways you did not expect.
- You will experience joy as you see mentees become more wholehearted in their character.
- Many mentees will want to use gospel-centered mentoring to help others rest in Christ more fully and reflect him more faithfully in every aspect of life.
- You will learn how to be a better mentee yourself when you are being mentored, making your time with a mentor more productive.
By the End of This Series, You Will Be Able To . . .

Next: Prepare Yourself for Gospel-Centered Mentoring

Just shared this post with my mentor before we officially meet for the first time on Friday. I’m taking the baby step today of praying for the Lord to prepare her heart and mine. Next will be creating (or stealing) a short list of objectives and questions. Thank you so much for sharing this resource, Matt!
